Pitch Shoe with Set Screw for Hollow Balusters- Low Sheen Black

A:The outside width of a pitch or flat shoe is approximately 1-3/8" wide and the plow in most rails is either 1-1/4" or 1-3/4", so the shoes will not fit in the plowed channel of the handrail (they're slightly larger than the plow on most rails). With iron balusters, you'll typically want an unplowed rail to drill holes to accept the iron balusters. Alternatively, you can use 1/4" thick fillet in the appropriate width to first fill the channel, and then drill the holes for the balusters.
