The Red Oak Smoke Retro Riser 42 in is the standard-width matched companion to Red Oak Smoke 42-inch retro treads — the most common tread size in US residential staircases. Prefinished in the same factory, Smoke stain. Installs over your existing riser in 20–30 minutes.

Complete the most popular grey staircase look: Smoke-stained treads, matched Smoke risers, clean paint on walls. Or swap to white pre-primed risers if you prefer the two-tone contrast effect; both work beautifully with Smoke treads.

INSTALLATION NOTE

Lightly sand the back face. Apply Loctite PL Premium adhesive in S-curves. Press over existing riser. Secure with a brad nailer. No painting or finishing required. Caulk the riser-tread joint for a clean seam.

Prefinished — ready to install. Pair with Red Oak Smoke Retro Treads 42 in for a fully matched staircase from the same color run. For touch-ups on trimmed ends, use Prefinished Touch Up Repair Kit ($21.07).
