Red Oak Butterscotch Cove Moulding- Prefinished Cove Moulding is sold in 48" sections. Sometimes called "scotia", cove moulding is installed under the bullnose of stair treads and landing tread to provide an additional decorative appearance as well as hide small gaps or minor imperfections after installation. Cove moulding is typically installed at the top of the riser, under the overhanging nose of the new stair tread.

A:Stair cove moulding installs in the concave joint between the back of a tread and the face of the riser above it. Apply a thin bead of construction adhesive in the joint, press the moulding firmly in place, and secure with a 1" brad nailer. Wipe any adhesive squeeze-out immediately. The moulding should match the species and finish of treads and risers for a consistent staircase appearance.
